Biography

My Story

I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, on July 30, 2003. Growing up, I was raised by my grandparents, who instilled in me an awareness of the unique challenges and obstacles faced by the Black community, particularly in healthcare. From a young age, I felt a calling to work in healthcare and bridge the gaps that have created disparities for the communities I care deeply about. Through volunteer work, clinical experience, and research, I have had the opportunity to give back and explore the inequities within the African-American community. My passion for addressing these disparities has led me to set my sights on a future in cardiology, where I hope to make meaningful contributions after college.

My Motivation

My motivation stems from the profound lack of representation among medical professionals who look like me, especially in my hometown of Nashville. I believe that increasing representation is crucial to alleviating socioeconomic disparities and fostering better healthcare practices, particularly for African-American women. When people see themselves reflected in their healthcare providers, it fosters trust and encourages healthier outcomes. My goal is to help inspire the next generation of Black healthcare professionals and create a foundation for more equitable healthcare for all.

My Vision

After college, I aspire to pursue a Ph.D. in cardiology research, followed by an M.D. in medical practice. My vision is to integrate innovative technologies into my practice to better serve Black women and address healthcare disparities in cardiology. I aim to be at the forefront of research and practice, contributing to groundbreaking methods that improve healthcare for Black women. By advancing research and improving healthcare practices, I hope to create lasting change that uplifts my community and inspires others to pursue careers in medicine
