Since my sophomore year, I’ve been actively involved in Lifting Youth Through Enrichment, a mentorship and community service organization founded in 2017. Lytehouse unites students from Clark Atlanta University, Spelman College, and Morehouse College. Its primary mission is to mentor first-year students and to organize impactful community service events. These events address issues like homelessness, leukemia awareness, and promote community clean-ups. I’ve had the honor of serving as both secretary and treasurer for Lytehouse, where I’ve led initiatives such as organizing fundraisers, enhancing our mentorship programs for new students, and ensuring our service projects run smoothly.
For two years, I served as a mentor in the “Mini Skirts” committee of Sisters Keeping It Real Through Service (SKIRTS), a service organization that emphasizes unity and community impact on Spelman's campus. As a mentor, I visited a local elementary school twice a week to mentor a fourth-grade student, forming a meaningful bond and supporting her growth. I also actively participated in SKIRT’s bonding, service, and fundraising events, which strengthened our sisterhood and amplified our community impact.
Since freshman year, I have been an active member of the Minority Association of Pre-Med Students (MAPS). I’ve served on the MAPS committee, which provides essential resources like internships and summer program opportunities for first year students pursuing medical careers. As an upperclassman, I have contributed to health-focused community service projects and attended seminars and workshops that prepare students for medical school. MAPS has also connected me with professionals in the field, offering valuable guidance for my future career.
The Residence Hall Association (RHA) focuses on enhancing the first-year experience on campus. My RHA journey began as the Abby Hall Queen during my first year, where I represented my dorm in the RHA pageant and coordinated events for my fellow residents. During my junior year, I was selected as the Community Leadership Council Director, a role in which I supervised residence hall councils, assisting them in event planning and supporting the annual RHA pageant. Currently, I serve as the Vice President of Advocacy and Service, collaborating with administration to ensure the needs and voices of first-year students on campus are acknowledged and addressed.
I have been a lead member of Movements of Praise, our liturgical dance ministry, since my sophomore year. Movements of Praise offers a space for women to express their faith and celebrate Christ through dance. We perform each month during services at Sisters Chapel, as well as at community events throughout the city. Our mission is to uplift others through worship, strengthen our connection to faith, and support our surrounding community.
